Oya Tekin, 1966 doğumlu bir avukat, üç çocuk annesi, halkçı bir aktivist ve Atatürkçü bir sosyal demokrattır. Bugüne kadar, toplumsal sorumluluk anlayışıyla Adana’nın ve Seyhan’ın sorunlarını çözmek için yürüttüğü mücadeleden elde ettiği mesleki ve siyasi birikimle Seyhan Belediye Başkanlığına adaylığını koymuştur.

Çevre, insan hakları ve kadın hakları konusundaki duyarlılığı, birçok sivil toplum kuruluşunda kurucu veya üye olarak sorumluluk üstlenmesini sağlamıştır. 1990 yılında Adana’nın ilk çevre derneğinin kuruluşunda ve çevre davalarının açılmasındaki gönüllü olarak üstlendiği avukatlık göreviyle çevre farkındalığının gelişmesine katkıda bulunmuştur.  Yoksulluk ve kadın cinayetleri alanında yaptığı çalışmalarla farklı mağduriyetler yaşayan kesimlerle geniş toplumsal gruplar arasındaki bağların kuvvetlenmesi için mücadele vermiştir. 

Oya Tekin, İnsan Hakları Derneği, Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği, Atatürkçü Düşünce Derneği, Kadın Platformu, Kadın Meclisleri ve EŞİK gönüllüsü olarak birçok önemli sivil toplum kuruluşunda yer almıştır. Adana’da seçim güvenliğinin örgütlenmesi ve koordinasyon çalışmalarında delegelik, eğitmenlik ve yönetim görevlerinde bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, madde kullanımına bağlı suçlarda mağdurların özellikle kadınlar ve çocuklar olduğu konusunda bir rapor hazırlayarak önemli bir sosyal sorumluluk üstlenmiştir.

2019 Yerel Seçimi sürecinde, kadınların siyasette var olma mücadelesini kadın muhtar adaylarının deneyimleri üzerinden anlatan “Cam Tavanları Kırıyoruz” isimli bir kitap kaleme almıştır. 2020 yılında başladığı CHP Adana İl Kadın Kolları Başkanlığı görevini halen sürdüren Oya Tekin, Adanalı kadınların siyasette daha etkin bir rol oynamasına kendi yaşamıyla öncülük etmektedir.

Oya Tekin, daha yaşanabilir, daha adil, daha halkçı ve daha müreffeh bir kent vizyonuyla Seyhan Belediye Başkanlığı için adaylığını koymuştur. Kendisi iyi bir belediyeciliğin herşeyden önce güçlü bir liderlik ile geniş bir toplum dayanışmasının bir araya gelmesiyle mümklün olduğuna inanıyor. Bu yüzden herkese eşit hizmet, açık ve şeffaf yönetim ve dürüst siyaset ilkeleriyle tüm Seyhanlıları bir araya getirmeyi hedefliyor.
